MTV Australia has today confirmed that Australian indie pop darling Amy Shark is the second artist selected to play MTV Unplugged Melbourne television concert series. The announcement follows the news that Gang of Youths will kick off the series.


MTV Unplugged Melbourne presented by Vodka O will be the first in a series of special televised events showcasing the best local talent on a world stage. MTV Unplugged Melbourne is hosted by Visit Victoria.

Gold coast singer/songwriter Amy Shark has been on the upward trajectoryboth here and abroad since releasing her breakout single ‘Adore’ which has now surpassed 60 million streams globally and is accredited with triple platinum sales.


Having received a string of awards & accolades including an APRA award, multiple nods at the Queensland Music Awards andtwo ARIA awards (Best Pop Release and Breakthrough Artist), Amy’s current single‘I Said Hi’, from her forthcoming debut album LOVE MONSTER (July 13), has reached platinum sales and garnered 15 million streams globally with 1.5 million video views.

With the release of her highly anticipated forthcoming debut record, LOVE MONSTER on July 13, Amyhas teamed up on the release with a number of industry big names including Mark Hoppus of Blink-182, Joel Little (Lorde, Khalid, Broods) and Bleachers front man Jack Antonoff (Lorde, Taylor Swift, SIA).

MTV Unplugged Melbourne: Amy Shark, will be the second episode of the Grammy® and Emmy® award-winning “MTV Unplugged” franchise ever filmed in Australia.

The intimate fan event will be filmed in front of a live audience on Thursday July 26 at Melbourne’s Cobblestone Pavilion at Meat Market. The live event will once again be hosted by Ash London, from the Hit Network’s Ash London Live.

MTV Unplugged Melbourne: Amy Shark will broadcast later this year only on MTV on Foxtel and Fetch.

A further two MTV Unplugged Melbourne events will be filmed in 2018 with the next artists to be revealed soon.
