Coffs Harbour’s Largest Caravan And Camping Megastore Opens $4m Renovation

Locally owned and operated for more than four decades, Jayco Coffs Harbour has officially completed a major $4 million renovation, cementing its status as the largest caravan and camping dealership in the region.

The extensive upgrade has transformed the site into a state-of-the-art caravan and camping megastore, boasting the biggest range of caravans and camping accessories on the Coffs Coast. The indoor showroom has been completely overhauled to create a more immersive and enjoyable buying experience, while new top-class sales offices offer a secure and welcoming environment for customers.

Jayco Coffs Harbour has been a proud part of the local community since 1981, originally founded by Max and Fay Watson. Today, it remains family-run under the leadership of Adam and Kris Watson, with a team of 46 employees dedicated to delivering expert service and genuine family values in an increasingly corporate landscape.

The Jayco Coffs Harbour story began long before the site’s transformation. In 1977, Max and Faye Watson left wheat farming in the Mallee, Victoria, for a new business adventure with Faye’s parents, purchasing a caravan park in Grafton. By 1981, the park was sold, and Max’s brother Ken had joined the family enterprise, replacing Faye’s parents as partners. This pivot sparked a new focus on caravan sales, first selling Windsor Caravans before acquiring an existing dealership and property in South Grafton.

In 1987, the Watsons expanded to Coffs Harbour, initially trading on High Street before relocating to a Pacific Highway site (now home to Bunnings). In 1999, they purchased the first portion of what is now the Jayco Coffs Harbour site, located near McDonald’s. The business has grown significantly since then, now occupying the expanded site following decades of development.

From 1996 onwards, Max and Faye’s three sons, Kris, Jeremy and Adam, joined the business, bringing new energy and ideas that fuelled further growth. In 2010, Max and Faye officially stepped back from the day-to-day operations, handing the reins to the next generation.

Today, the dealership is proudly run by Adam and Kris Watson, with a team of 46 local staff delivering expert service and genuine family values in an increasingly corporate landscape.

“Our family has been in the caravan industry for nearly 50 years, and we’ve seen the region and the business evolve alongside it,” said Adam Watson. “This renovation is a way for us to invest back into our community and ensure we’re offering the best experience, range, and support to our customers.”

The renovation was completed in late 2024, with no formal grand opening planned — but customers are encouraged to visit and explore the impressive new space for themselves.

Jayco Coffs Harbour continues to support travellers across the region and beyond, offering not just caravans, but expert advice, genuine customer care, and an unmatched range of camping products.
